World Tapas Day

We are thrilled to be taking part in World Tapas Day this Thursday June 15. It’s a global celebration of Spain’s national bar culture, more a way of life than a way of serving food and drinks. In Spain people drop into bars for a quick refreshment, a pick me up, or time to have a quick chat with friends. You have an ice cold caña of beer, some olives, perhaps a glass of wine and a little plate of charcuterie.

It’s what we do everyday at the bars at MoVida, especially MoVida Next Door on the corner of Hosier Lane and Flinders Street in Melbourne. In the spirit of the day we are celebrating the global spread of Spanish food with a homage to the patatas bravas served at Foc in Singapore. Foc is Catalan for fire and they serve a fiery modern version of this iconic tapas that was first made in bars in Barcelona. Our version is a crisp sheet of finely sliced potato, deep fried and served with classic sauces of aioli and spicy pepper sauce. Enjoy it with an ice cold Moritz Epidor dark beer for just $14 at MoVida Next Door on Thursday June 15 for World Tapas Day.
