Castro Ventosa Villegas

Villegas is Castro Ventosa's most exceptional single-site red — one of the finest vineyards in the entire Pérez family estate. Located in Valtuille de Abajo at around 550m, Villegas stands out for something rare in Bierzo, sandy soils. From vines over 100 years old, the plot is tiny, and production is minuscule — sometimes as little as two barrels a year — making this one of the most sought-after and exclusive wines the winery produces.

Made mostly from Mencía with a touch of Alicante Bouschet and other local varieties, the grapes are hand-harvested, fermented whole-cluster with native yeasts, and macerated for 60 days before 12 months in used oak barrels. The result is a wine of remarkable finesse and perfume: elegant, fresh, and layered with dried hibiscus, elderberry, and bright red cherry, framed by stunningly fine, velvety tannins.
