Envinate 'Palo Blanco'

  • Producer: Envinate - Tenerife

Palo Blanco comes from an old vine vineyard in the Orotava sub zone, near the town of Los Realejos. Much like everything Envinate produce, the DO stamp doesn't make an appearance on the label. The vines are all trellised using the traditional 'Trenzado' fashion: a braid of old and new shoots that have the appearance of dreadlocks.

The vines are all over 100 years old and the wine is finished in large 2,500L foudres that have been brought in from Friuli. It is the latest ripening from all their vineyards on the island. The wine has a waxy texture with crunching acidity that is almost akin to chenin blanc on the palate, but the aromatics are unmistakably Listan Blanco.

Go Wine Yourself.

Some say the future of Spanish wine lies in its past. If that’s true, Envínate’s already there — four mates making wild, beautiful wines with one foot in the old world and the other kicking down the door.
