Maranones Garnacha

  • Producer: Marañones

Bodegas Marañones’ Marañones Garnacha is a benchmark expression of high‑altitude Garnacha from the Vinos de Madrid appellation in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, crafted by one of the most intriguing estates in the Sierra de Gredos region. Made from 100 % Garnacha sourced from old, north‑facing bush vines planted on sandy, granite‑infused soils between roughly 750–850 m above sea level, the wine is spontaneously fermented with indigenous yeasts and typically matured in large French oak foudres and used barrels that enhance structure without overwhelming the fruit.

In the glass, Marañones often shows bright, translucent cherry‑ruby colour and delivers a compelling interplay of red and blue fruit (think cherry, strawberry and blueberry) with mountain herbs, floral notes and a mineral, chalky edge that reflects its unique terroir. Its medium body and vivid acidity are supported by finely grained tannins and thoughtful oak integration, yielding a wine that is at once elegant and expressive with a long, balanced finish.

Some say the future of Spanish wine lies in its past. If that’s true, Envínate’s already there — four mates making wild, beautiful wines with one foot in the old world and the other kicking down the door.
