Buena Pinta Moravia Agria
- Producer: Ponce
Moravia Agria is a thinned skinned, high acid grape that makes wine with a very different profile to the varietals usually found in Mediterranean regions. In the glass, it can look more like Galicia than Manchuela.
Ponce’s Moravia Agria are sourced from vines of around 60 years of age and aged in used 600 litre barrels for six months. The 2015 includes around 20% Garnacha.
Buena Pinta shows high toned florals – violets and rose petals – with very tightly wound tannin and an intense, spicy structure. It looks defiantly more cool-climate than it actually is, almost like a cross between Mencía and Nebbiolo.

Some say the future of Spanish wine lies in its past. If that’s true, Envínate’s already there — four mates making wild, beautiful wines with one foot in the old world and the other kicking down the door.
